NEW CHURCH NEWS
Dear Parishioners & Friends, I am happy to announce that we have begun the building project of constructing a new Church on the site of the chapel at 901 S.W. 6th Street, Okeechobee, Fl. We will be using some of the elements of the old chapel in the construction of our permanent, parish Church; thus combing the old with the new. The new Church will have bathrooms for men and women at the entrance; a new sacristy and two new confessionals. The windows of the Church will be stained-glass. Fourteen of the windows will depict the Stations of the Cross; the choir area will have a stained-glass window of Our Lady of Guadalupe; and there will be a stained-glass window of the Sacred Heart above the altar. All the furniture in the Church will be new; that is, padded pews, altar, pulpit, as well as chairs in the Sanctuary and choir areas. The new Sanctuary will have an Oratory to the right for daily mass, and exposition of the Blessed Sacrament. To the left of the Sanctuary on the opposite side, there will be an Aisle leading into the adjacent hall. Both the Oratory and Hall-Aisle will have see-through windows looking into the Sanctuary. The ceiling rafters in the chapel will be restored and re-done in a cathedral style. The Church will have a state-of-the-art audio-visual system; and a special choir area designed to meet the needs of today’s liturgy. New landscaping will encircle the Church outside and the parking area will be improved and up-dated. During the course of this building project, we will keep our parishioners and friends informed of the progress.
